GIS@ PROJECT IN INTERNATIONAL VIDEO CONFERENCE (10/19/2012)
Separated by geographic distance, but interacting in real time, shortening geographical boundaries, minimizing cost, time and innovating learning environments, Georgian and Brazilians participate in the "I INTERNATIONAL VIDEOCONFERENCE", organized by GIS@ project.
In the videoconference, communication is bidirectional, as image, sound and information are generated and mediated by technology in real time and shared synchronously. These characteristics propitiated students of Batumi / Georgia presented us the process of bottling, marketing the medicinal powers of mineral water Kokotauri.
Also highlighted the environmental issues of Georgia and the difficulties they face by the lack of water. The group of students of GIS@ had the opportunity to clarify doubts and curiosities by using the Microsoft application, the "simultaneous translator" that enabled communication and understanding between the two countries that use totally different languages. In Georgia, the Georgian language is spoken by about 85% of the population, although Russian is very present, as one of the last vestiges of the Soviet era. The Georgians called themselves ქართველები (kartvelebi) and its language ქართული (kartuli).
The results were extremely significant because it highlighted the importance and innovative nature of international videoconferencing as an alternative to a quality education and excellence.Congratulations to all the students and staff of the 'Santa' who worked hard to make this event so successful! Thanks, guys! Thank you! (Prof ª Eliana and Cintia).

The GISA project incorporated the videoconference in its plans of action, to favor the access to learning, help the development of competencies, and specially, of comunication competence – according the the national curriculum -, as well as integrate new online tools trough the use of ITs in the classroom
On 08/10, class 83 installed skype and simultaneous translator from Microsoft on their personal computers and in the classroom, and experienced a conversation online. This activity was part of a "test" for the mega "INTERNATIONAL VIDEOCONFERENCE" that occur in the 2nd half of October between the GISA group students and teachers / students from 5 countries worldwide.
Teacher Luís (informatics lab) had vital participation in this process, as he built new ways of learning with the class around these new tools. No discipline is able to perform an isolated phenom, as phenoms are part of a totality. Because of that , thanks to professor Luís, the people of the IT and the dear families, that were always supporting us and truly believed in this intiative that is bringing numerous ways of learning and knowledge to our students. (teachers Eliana e Cíntia).
